The Girlfriend, directed by Rahul Ravindran, is touted to be a promising a blend of romance and intrigue. He later mulled over casting Vennela Kishore for the role, but the comedian rejected it saying the serious lines don't suit his image. Anu Emmanuel and Rao Ramesh have prominent roles.
