Tharun Bhascker Defends His Slow Filmmaking Pace

Tharun Bhascker has often stated that he is in no rush to make movies and wants to take time to make what I want. He will be seen as someone running a funeral services business in Santhana Prapthirasthu. Speaking to its hero, Vikranth, the filmmaker said that he has directed only three films in nine years because he feels allowing oneself enough time is the key to having the ability to come out with good stories. After Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi (2018), he took a break from directing, which lasted about five years before his next feature, Keedaa Cola (2023). He acknowledged that some would call a five-year gap a "long break; a risk even." The new-age filmmaker mentioned that the huge expectations after the success of his first two films, Pelli Choopulu and Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi , got "a bit overwhelming." He once said he "hesitated to make a big star film" despite meeting stars. Tharun felt the break helped him, making him a "much more confident, matured, slightly grown up Tharun" and "more sensitive to actors" as he spent time acting and doing other aspects of filmmaking. After Vijay Deverakonda's Pelli Choopulu , which was a huge success, Tharun felt "a lot of pressure to confine" himself to that genre and make bigger, more commercial films. He felt that doing so would "kill the child inside me."
