Tamil Film Stunt Master Mohan Raj Dies on Set of Arya's 'Vettuvam'

Mohan Raj , who was known by the name SM Raju , was a sought-after stunt master in the Tamil film industry. He lost his life on Sunday (July 13th) while performing a stunt on the sets of Kollywood actor Arya s upcoming film Vettuvam. The deceased was driving an SUV. He sought to perform a risky stunt, but the car crashed. The car somersaulted mid-air before crashing, causing Mohan Raj to sustain severe injuries to his chest. He was rushed to the Nagapattinam Government Hospital, but was declared dead on arrival, a report by Financial Express says. Stunt choreographer 'Stunt' Silva , who is among the most sought-after stunt directors, wrote, One of our great car jumping stunt artists, SM Raju, died today while doing car stunts. Our stunt union and Indian film industry will be missing him. Stunt masters perform acts like falls from heights, car crashes, explosions, fire stunts, and high-speed chases. These inherently carry a high risk of injury. While safety equipment like airbags, pads, harnesses, and fireproof attire are used, their quality, maintenance, and consistent application across all productions might not always be up to international standards.
