Suriya and Jyothika are celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary today, September 11. Before becoming one of Tamil cinema’s most admired real-life couples, the two actors created a memorable on-screen combination through a series of films that showcased their chemistry across different genres. Poovellam Kettuppar (1999) marked Suriya and Jyothika’s first film together. Directed by Vasanth, the romantic comedy introduced the pair as co-stars and laid the foundation for their collaborations in the years that followed.
They reunited for Uyirile Kalanthathu (2000), a romantic drama directed by K. R. Jaya. Their combination continued to gain attention before reaching a major milestone with Kaakha Kaakha (2003). Directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, the action thriller featured Suriya as Anbuselvan and Jyothika as Maya, with their relationship forming an important emotional thread in the story.
