Tollywood producer Supriya Yarlagadda has been appointed as a member of the newly reconstituted Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The 18-member board was announced by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on September 16, 2026, and will have a tenure of three years or until further orders.
Supriya is a familiar name in Telugu cinema, with her professional journey closely associated with the Akkineni family and Annapurna Studios. She is the granddaughter of legendary actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao and the niece of Nagarjuna. She also made her acting debut with Akkada Ammayi Ikkada Abbayi in 1996, starring alongside Pawan Kalyan.
Over the years, she has been involved in film production and has contributed to projects associated with the Annapurna Studios banner. Her work includes Naruda Donoruda, the Telugu adaptation of Vicky Donor, which featured Sumanth in the lead role. Her association with the industry has extended beyond acting, establishing her as a film professional with experience on the production side.
The CBFC appointment now adds a new responsibility to her career. The board is responsible for examining films and granting certification for public exhibition under the applicable laws and guidelines. Supriya joins a diverse panel that includes prominent names such as Preity Zinta, Pankaj Tripathi, Suniel Shetty, Priyadarshan, Ricky Kej and Pallavi Joshi.
Her inclusion gives the Telugu film industry representation on the reconstituted national board. As the new panel begins its tenure, Supriya will be part of the body overseeing film certification across the country.
