Single Telugu Movie Review: A hilarious entertainer that is more than just a love triangle

Single, produced by Vidya Koppineedi, Bhanu Pratapa and Riyaz Chowdary, was released in theatres today. Touted to be an apt entertainer for singles, committed guys and families, Single comes from Geetha Arts and Kalya Films. Story: Vijay (Sree Vishnu) woos Purva (Ketika Sharma), an Audi showroom agent who counts on his car purchase to finance her mother's surgery. When she learns that Vijay has been lying to her with the hidden motive of meeting her frequently, she parts ways with him. Vijay is heartbroken and spurns the love proposals by another woman, Harini (Ivana). How the trio navigate the tricky situations they face forms the rest of the story. Analysis: Writer-director Caarthick Raju weaves hilarious situations throughout the film. Every time the film comes close to slipping into a serious-minded love story, Sree Vishnu's characterization brings much-needed comical infusions. By the time the film ends, you become a fan of Vijay's happy-go-lucky attitude. Sree Vishnu and Vennela Kishore carry the film on their shoulders in this two-men show. As childhood friends who don't reveal their cards to each other, they are like Tom n' Jerry in a distant sense. Although the film is essentially a love triangle with a defined trajectory and three full-length lead actors, the friendship track is equally important. Sree Vishnu sparkles with comedic flair, his timing a masterful dance of wit that lands every punchline with dazzling precision. In recent times, comedies that mine social media fads (read Kumari Aunty, etc) have found a loyal audience base. Single is one such movie. Filmy references are another highlight. From Thandel to Vijay Deverakonda's 'What's up, what's up, Rowdy Boys!', Single indulges them all. Prabhas Srenu's 'sentimental rowdies' track is enjoyable. VTV Ganesh is seen as the boss at the bank where the male lead works. The casting is sincere and eclectic. From the Sankranthiki Vasthunam fame Revanth (the child artist) to the star comedian Satya, you find them all before you walk out of the hall. Bhanu Bhogavarapu and Nandu Savirigana have penned the dialogue. The two writers are emerging as go-to guys for comedies. With the right directors and rib-tickling situations, their contemporary lines can help a film attain new heights. Vishal Chandrasekhar's songs (Shilpi Yevaro, Prema Ishq Kadhal, Sirrakaindhi Single Bathuku) are enjoyable. The film is edited by Praveen KL. The cinematography is by Velraj. Most of the story takes place in local settings and even everyday locations like the metro rail. Verdict: Single delivers a fun theatrical experience, primarily on the strength of Sree Vishnu's comedic performance and the engaging camaraderie with Vennela Kishore. While the love triangle narrative follows a familiar path, the film's witty dialogue, pop culture references, and well-timed humor make it a worthwhile watch, especially for those seeking lighthearted entertainment.
