'Sincere Apology': Ranveer Singh Addresses Backlash Over Comments on Kantara

Rishab Shetty's Daiva Chavundi act in Kantara: Chapter 1 is considered phenomenal. Recently, at an awards event, while praising the Kannada actor, Hindi film star Ranveer Singh imitated him. The Padmaavat actor said, "I watched Kantara in theaters, and Rishab's performance was outstanding, especially when the female ghost enters your body; that shot was so amazing." His remarks sparked an outcry. Since the remarks are sensitive in nature, Ranveer has tendered a public apology. "My intention was to highlight Rishab's incredible performance in the film. Actor to actor, I know how much it takes to perform that particular scene the way he did, for which he has my utmost admiration. I have always deeply respected every culture, tradition, and belief in our country. If I've hurt anyone's sentiments, I sincerely apologize," the actor wrote. Kantara: Chapter 1 was a massive theatrical hit. Written and directed by Rishab himself, it was produced by Hombale Films and co-starred Gulshan Devaiah and Rukmini Vasanth. Dhurandhar is Ranveer's next release, scheduled for release this week. The high-stakes Hindi action-thriller film is directed by Aditya Dhar (known for Uri: The Surgical Strike). It co-stars Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, and Arjun Rampal.
