Ranbir Kapoor's Ramayana movies have an unbelievable budget

Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana movies star Ranbir Kapoor in the lead. While the two movies have been touted to be India's most expensive duology ever, the precise budgetary figure was not officially divulged for long. The number is finally known. Appearing on a podcast hosted by Prakhar Gupta, the film's producer, Namit Malhotra , said that the budget for the two movies will be Rs 4,000 Cr. We are funding it ourselves. We are not taking anybody s money. People thought I was crazy when we started six-seven years ago, just after the pandemic. No Indian film had come close to this kind of budget, he has been quoted as saying. Ramayana (coming with the caption, Our Truth. Our History ) is being made with the greatest amount of reverence . The film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, Yash as Ravana, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Ravie Dubey as Lakshmana. The film also stars Kajal Aggarwal, Ravi Dubey, Arun Govil, and Lara Dutta Oscar-winning legends Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman are composing the music. Hollywood s top stunt directors— Terry Notary (Avengers, Planet of the Apes) and Guy Norris (Mad Max: Fury Road, Furiosa) — are choreographing the epic battles between gods and demons. Production designers Ravi Bansal (Dune 2, Aladdin, etc) and Ramsey Avery (Captain America, Tomorrowland, etc) are on board. Ramayana will be released in two parts. The makers plan to release Part 1 for Diwali 2026 release. Part 2 will be a Diwali 2027 release.
