Rajinikanth opens up about his collaboration with Kamal Haasan

Rajinikanth has confirmed that he is in talks for a film that would reunite him with fellow actor Kamal Haasan. The project would be jointly produced by Kamal Haasan's banner Raaj Kamal Films International and Red Giant Movies. While speaking to the media at Chennai airport, Rajinikanth stated that he and Kamal Haasan both want to do a film together, but a director and a script have not yet been finalized. He said that they will act in the film if they find the right story and roles. This announcement comes after Kamal Haasan hinted at the collaboration at an awards ceremony earlier this month. If the project goes forward, it will be the first time the two stars have appeared together on screen since the 1979 film Alavuddinum Athbutha Vilakkum. Jailer 2 , a sequel to his 2023 blockbuster Jailer, is Rajini s upcoming solo release. He will reprise his role as Muthuvel Pandian. It will be directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, who also helmed the first installment. Anirudh Ravichander is its director. It will hit the screens after June 2026. Kamal was recently seen in Thug Life, directed by Mani Ratnam. The film was an action thriller and also starred Silambarasan and Trisha Krishnan. Kamal is slated to work with Lokesh on a solo-hero movie. Vikram 2 is a sequel to the 2022 action thriller Vikram will be taken up some day.
