Raaka Creates History With Guinness World Record

Published: 2026-09-21

Raaka has added a major milestone to its journey even before its theatrical release. The Atlee directorial has officially entered the Guinness World Records for the “Most People Motion-Captured in Real-Time,” with 37 performers being captured simultaneously.

Sun Pictures announced the achievement today, revealing that Allu Arjun and Atlee received the Guinness World Records certificate. The record gives a clearer idea of the scale of the technology being used for Raaka, which has been positioned as one of the most ambitious projects in Indian cinema.

The number 37 had already caught the attention of fans after it appeared in recent promotional material connected to the film. The latest announcement now provides the context behind it. Instead of being a title reference or a random promotional clue, 37 was connected to a large-scale motion-capture process carried out for the film.

Motion capture is an important part of modern filmmaking, particularly when large numbers of performers need to be digitally captured for complex visual sequences. Bringing 37 performers into a real-time capture setup simultaneously is now officially recognised by Guinness World Records, making it a notable technical achievement for the production.

For Atlee, the record adds another dimension to his upcoming film after his previous directorial Jawan expanded his reach beyond Tamil cinema. Raaka marks his collaboration with Allu Arjun and is being mounted on a much larger scale, with the film also featuring Deepika Padukone and other prominent actors.

The makers have yet to reveal how this particular motion-capture sequence fits into the larger narrative, which makes the upcoming glimpse or making material particularly interesting. The technical achievement is now official, but audiences will have to wait to see how Atlee translates it into the actual film.

With the Guinness record now adding to the growing curiosity around Raaka, the project has offered another indication of the scale being attempted behind the scenes.
