The Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce elections concluded on Sunday with a commanding win for the Progressive Panel, backed by prominent industry leaders. Senior producer and exhibitor D. Suresh Babu has been elected as the new President, marking a significant leadership transition for the key body representing Tollywood's interests.
A total of 3,355 members across the four sectors—Producers, Distributors, Exhibitors, and Studios—were eligible to vote, with active participation determining the new office-bearers. As per chamber rules, the President's position for this term was reserved for the Exhibitors sector, paving the way for Suresh Babu's ascension.
The elections witnessed an intense contest between the Progressive Panel and the rival Mana Panel. The Progressive Panel, supported by top producers including Allu Aravind, Dil Raju, Y. Ravi Shankar, and D. Suresh Babu himself, dominated the polls. It secured all major positions and a strong majority in the Executive Committee.
Suryadevara Naga Vamsi and Bharat Choudary were elected as Vice Presidents, while Kolla Ashok Kumar took the role of Secretary. Mohan Vadlapati and Vijayender Reddy will serve as Joint Secretaries, and Mutyala Ramadasu as Treasurer.
In the 44-member Executive Committee, the Progressive Panel claimed 28 seats, including notable figures like Dil Raju, leaving the Mana Panel with 15. This overwhelming control ensures the Progressive Panel's influence over key decisions in the coming term.
The new leadership is expected to address longstanding industry concerns, such as ticket pricing, infrastructure, and policy advocacy with governments in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. With a blend of experience and fresh perspectives, the panel aims to steer Telugu cinema toward greater unity and growth.
