Pilla Zamindar Completes 15 Years

Published: 2026-10-14

Nani’s Pilla Zamindar completes 15 years today, October 14. Directed by G. Ashok, the Telugu comedy-drama remains a memorable film in Nani’s career for its entertaining storyline, memorable comedy and meaningful life lessons.

The film follows Praveen Jayaramaraju, popularly known as PJ, a wealthy young man who grows up enjoying a luxurious lifestyle. Used to getting everything he wants, PJ is arrogant, irresponsible and believes money can solve almost every problem. However, his grandfather’s will changes his life, as he must complete his graduation while living like an ordinary student without relying on his wealth. Only then can he claim his inheritance.

PJ initially struggles to adjust to his new circumstances. Forced to stay in a hostel and live among students from different backgrounds, he finds it difficult to accept the restrictions placed on him. His overconfidence and inability to handle situations without money often land him in trouble. The college and hostel setting becomes a source of both comedy and personal growth as he slowly learns that life does not always work according to his wishes.

Comedy is one of the major highlights of Pilla Zamindar, with Dhanraj, Thagubothu Ramesh and the other supporting actors adding to the film’s entertainment. Their humour, witty exchanges and amusing situations bring life to the hostel and college episodes. The supporting cast shares a lively chemistry that complements Nani’s comic timing, making these portions enjoyable while keeping the narrative engaging.

Haripriya’s character also plays an important role in PJ’s journey. As he struggles with his studies and the challenge of completing his graduation, she offers support and guidance, helping him understand the importance of education and hard work. Her involvement encourages PJ to take his responsibilities seriously instead of expecting money to solve his problems.

As the story progresses, PJ faces situations that challenge his ego and force him to reconsider his behaviour. His experiences teach him the value of friendship, humility and responsibility. His transformation from a privileged young man who looks down on others to someone who begins to understand their struggles forms the emotional core of the film.

Nani delivers an engaging performance, effectively portraying PJ’s arrogance in the early portions and his gradual transformation. Haripriya and Bindu Madhavi play the female leads, while Srinivas Avasarala, Rao Ramesh, Nagineedu, M. S. Narayana and Vennela Kishore are among the other actors who contribute to the film. Selvaganesh’s music also remains part of the movie’s identity.

Released in 2011, Pilla Zamindar connected with audiences through its blend of comedy, emotion and a coming-of-age story. Fifteen years later, the film continues to be remembered for its entertaining supporting characters and PJ’s journey towards understanding that wealth may offer comfort, but hard work, relationships and personal values are what truly shape a person.
