Padma Bhushan happened at the right time: Balakrishna

Actor-politician Nandamuri Balakrishna was recently honoured with Padma Bhushan. The versatile actor, who has been a superstar commanding a strong fan following for decades, is also a three-time legislator. A philanthropist, Balakrishna has made Tollywood proud by bagging the honour. Today, speaking at an event, Balakrishna stated that the honour has come to him at the right time. Many have felt that I should have been honoured with the civilian honour long back. I am spiritual; I do a lot of praying at home. Once I am done with my day's worship, work is my deity. The Padma recognition has come my way, co-incidentally or otherwise, during the birth centenary of my father. His first movie, Mana Desam, was released 70 years ago. And I am in my 50th year in the cinema industry. Recently, I won as an MLA for the third time. I have acted in four consecutive hits. The Padma Bhushan recognition at this hour is making me happy, Balakrishna said. The four consecutive hits are Akhanda, Veera Simha Reddy, Bhagavanth Kesari, and Daaku Maharaaj . The last of these, a Sankranthi release, has been declared the highest grosser in Balayya's career.
