Soori’s Tamil sports action drama Mandaadi is now heading to OTT after a successful theatrical run. The film will begin streaming on Netflix from October 8, giving audiences another chance to watch the Soori and Suhas starrer from the comfort of their homes. The film is also set to be available in Telugu along with other language versions.
Directed by Mathimaran Pugazhendhi, Mandaadi revolves around the traditional sailboat racing culture along the Tamil Nadu coastline. Soori plays Muthukaali, a skilled boat racer whose life takes an unexpected turn before circumstances bring him back to the sport. Suhas plays a key role as his rival, with the story built around the rivalry between two teams and the stakes surrounding an important annual race.
The film also features Mahima Nambiar, Sathyaraj, Mithun Jai Sankar, Ravindra Vijay, Bala Saravanan and Stun Siva in important roles. Suhas, who made his Tamil debut with the film, plays a character with negative shades, adding another layer to the central rivalry.
Mandaadi was released in theatres on September 10 and went on to emerge as a strong performer at the box office, with reports putting its worldwide gross above 150 crore.
With its mix of sports, rivalry, action and an unfamiliar coastal setting, Mandaadi is now ready to reach a wider audience through Netflix. The film will start streaming on October 8.
