The first look of Mahaveer Karna has been unveiled, introducing Raghava Lawrence as the legendary Karna. The makers shared the poster with the line “A Face. A Legend. A Warrior,” giving audiences their first glimpse of Lawrence in a mythological role.
The look immediately establishes a serious and intense tone. Raghava Lawrence appears in a warrior avatar, with the visual design leaning into the grandeur expected from a story centred on one of the most recognised characters from the Mahabharata. More than revealing specific story details, the poster is meant to establish the presence of Karna and the scale of the world being created around him.
For Lawrence, the project marks his first step into mythology, making the character transformation particularly significant. Karna is a complex figure whose story is shaped by loyalty, friendship, honour, rejection, sacrifice and fate. That gives the film plenty of emotional material beyond the battlefield and larger action sequences.
Directed by Ramesh Varma, Mahaveer Karna is being mounted as an epic live-action saga. Earlier promotional material has indicated that the film will use a hybrid live-action approach, combining live-action filmmaking with modern visual effects to create its mythological setting.
The first look, however, does not reveal how the makers are approaching Karna’s story or which portions of his life will receive the most attention. That remains one of the biggest points of curiosity. Will the film focus more on his personal struggles, his relationship with Duryodhana, his identity, or his role in the Kurukshetra conflict?
