Venky Atluri's Lucky Baskhar has earned a National Award at the 72nd National Film Awards, with the filmmaker winning the Best Dialogue Writer honour for the Telugu film.

Starring Dulquer Salmaan in the lead role, Lucky Baskhar is set in the 1980s and follows a bank employee whose ordinary life takes an unexpected turn. The film combines crime, money and ambition with a period setting, while keeping its central character at the heart of the story.

The National Award for Best Dialogue Writer recognises Venky Atluri's contribution to the film's written dialogue. Since Lucky Baskhar is driven heavily by its characters, their conversations and the changing situations they find themselves in, the dialogue plays an important role in moving the narrative forward.

The period setting also required the writing to work within the world created by the film. The conversations had to support the characterisation while fitting the atmosphere of the 1980s setting and the film's financial-crime backdrop.

Venky Atluri's recognition adds another achievement to Lucky Baskhar, which became one of the notable Telugu films of its release year. The film also marked a collaboration between Atluri and Dulquer Salmaan, with the actor's performance as Baskhar forming the centre of the story.

With the National Award for Best Dialogue Writer, the film's writing has now received recognition at the national level. It also gives Venky Atluri an important milestone in his career, particularly for a film where the screenplay, characterisation and dialogue work closely together to drive the story.

For Lucky Baskhar, the honour brings national recognition to the writing behind its period crime drama. For Venky Atluri, it marks a significant achievement in his career as a filmmaker and adds another notable chapter to the journey of a film that connected with audiences through its story, characters and setting.
