Kantara Chapter 1 crosses Rs 818 crore worldwide

Rishab Shetty's epic prequel Kantara Chapter 1 has cemented its place as the highest-grossing film of the year, amassing an astounding Rs 818 crore worldwide . The film, which follows the success of its predecessor Kantara (2022), has joined the elite league of dubbed films, becoming only the second after KGF Chapter 2 to surpass Rs 100 crore in the Telugu States . Released on October 2, 2025, coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti and Vijayadashami, the Kannada-language film has captivated audiences across multiple languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam. The other day, the makers of Kantara Chapter 1 officially announced a global English-language release for the film. The English version is scheduled to debut on October 31st . Clocking in at 2 hours, 14 minutes, and 45 seconds, this version will be nearly 30 minutes shorter than the original version currently playing in cinemas. Kantara: Chapter 1 is a sweeping, technically superior prequel that successfully expands the mythological and dramatic scope established by its predecessor.
