Rajinikanth’s much-awaited Jailer 2 has cleared its censor formalities ahead of its grand theatrical release. The Nelson Dilipkumar directorial has received a U/A 16+ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), adding another major update to the film’s pre-release buzz.
The film has also locked its final certified runtime at 165 minutes and 18 seconds, which is approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes. This makes the sequel slightly shorter than the first Jailer, which had a runtime of around 168 minutes.
Jailer 2 brings back Superstar Rajinikanth as Muthuvel Pandian, with Nelson Dilipkumar returning as the writer and director. Anirudh Ravichander is once again composing the music. The sequel features a large ensemble cast, including Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa, S J Suryah, Vidya Balan and Suraj Venjaramoodu. Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar are also associated with the film.
The film is produced by Sun Pictures and is scheduled to release worldwide on October 15, 2026. With the trailer already adding to the excitement around Rajinikanth’s return as Muthuvel Pandian, the censor clearance puts the film firmly in the final stretch before its theatrical arrival.
With its U/A 16+ certification and nearly two-hour-45-minute runtime now confirmed, Jailer 2 is ready for its big-screen launch. Fans are now waiting to see whether the sequel can match the impact of the blockbuster first instalment.
