Eight years after Husharu became a popular youth entertainer, the franchise is returning with Husharu 2. Writer-director Sree Harsha Konuganti is back for the sequel, which promises a fresh story, a new set of characters and a much bigger adventure. The film has completed its major shooting schedules and is currently in post-production, with a year-end theatrical release being planned.
Unlike the original, which revolved around four engineering graduates and their friendship, Husharu 2 takes its characters into a completely different world. The story follows five friends who lose everything during the COVID period and decide to rebuild their lives with an ambitious business plan. They travel to Chittragunj to set up an agave-based tequila distillery, but their plans soon lead them into a series of unexpected situations.
The title poster has already created curiosity with its unusual imagery. A truck carrying Kaboom beer, a giant snake, a turtle, a treasure chest filled with gold and a factory form the strange backdrop for the five friends. The visual also appears to draw from the imagery associated with Samudra Manthan, although the makers have not revealed the exact significance yet.
The sequel features Rahul Ramakrishna, Ashok Galla, Ravi Anthony, Dinesh Tej, Sasidhar Kocharlakota, Vidhi Yadhav, Abhignya Vuthuluru and others. Sree Harsha is aiming to retain the youthful humour and friendship-driven energy of the original while expanding the scale and world of the franchise.
Produced by Rahul Varma, K Veena Rani and K Hanumant Raju under Caveman Stories, HK Films and Kaliyuga Vaaradha Creations, Husharu 2 marks a fresh chapter for the franchise. More promotional material is expected to arrive ahead of its theatrical release.
