Gaddar Telangana Film Awards: Special Awards celebrate best contributors

The Gaddar Telangana Film Awards have a unique feature. They include six special awards named after some of the biggest and greatest legends of Telugu cinema. In this section, TFN tries to thrown light on the categories. 1. NTR National Film Award : NT Rama Rao, possibly the most versatile thespian, needs no introduction. By introducing an award in his name, the Telangana government has made his fans, the Telugu film fraternity and the Telugu community across the world immensely proud. The debut year award has gone to Nandamuri Balakrishna . This award can be given to any Indian artist. 2. Paidi Jayaraj Film Award : Jayaraj was an actor, director and producer known for his works in Hindi. Also associated with Telugu theatre, he was born in Telangana in 1909. Having acted in as many as 170 movies, he remains one of the foremost stalwarts of the Indian film industry. The debut season award has gone to Mani Ratnam , one of the most game-changing filmmakers Tamil cinema has known. This award can be given to any Indian personality. 3. BN Reddy Film Award : He was a director, producer, and screenwriter of repute and was the first film personality to receive the Dadasaheb Phalke Award from South India. Also a recipient of Padma Bhushan, four National Awards and three Nandi Awards are associated with his filmography. The debut season award went to Sukumar , the Pushpa maker. Only Telugu filmmakers can be given this award. 4. Nagi Reddy and Chakrapani Film Award : This award has been instituted to fete Telugu film producers whose contributions are wide. Nagi Reddy, as a co-founder of Vijaya Vauhini Studios in Madras, was a pioneer. The studio was once the largest film studio in Asia by floor space when it was established. Chakrapani was also associated with Vijaya Vauhini. He also partnered with Nagi Reddy at Vijaya Productions. As a co-founder of Chandamama , the children's magazine, he made a huge cultural impact. 5. Kantha Rao Film Award : Known for portraying the roles of Narada, Lord Krishna and Arjuna in mythological films, Kantha Rao was a beloved actor in his times. Only Telugu artists can be given this award. The maiden edition went to Vijay Deverakonda . 6. Raghupati Venkayya Film Award : Artists writers not mainly associated with films will be given this award. The maiden edition went to Yandamuri Veerendranath , one of the most popular Telugu novelists of all time. Raghupathi Venkayya is regarded as the father of Telugu cinema. He famously founded Star of the East Films, the first film production company established by a Telugu person.
