A minor fire incident near Ranbir Kapoor’s highly anticipated Ramayana briefly raised concern in Mumbai on Monday evening. The blaze broke out in a tent outside Prime Focus Studios in Film City, where the mythological epic is being shot. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, the damage was minor, and the situation was brought under control quickly. Shooting subsequently resumed.
Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) president BN Tiwari confirmed the incident and said the fire was contained before it could spread further. He also pointed to the need for stronger safety measures across film productions, noting that a similar incident had reportedly occurred at a nearby location days earlier.
The incident comes as Ramayana continues its ambitious production ahead of its theatrical release. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the two-part epic stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. Sunny Deol plays Hanuman, while Ravi Dubey portrays Lakshmana.
The makers recently announced that the first instalment is titled Ramayana: Rise of a Legend and will release worldwide on November 6, 2026. The film is being mounted on a large scale, with DNEG handling the visual effects and the team aiming for a major theatrical experience across formats.
For now, the fire has not been reported to have affected the film’s production plans or release schedule. With shooting continuing, attention remains firmly on the much-awaited first part of Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious adaptation.
