Dhanush’s upcoming film D56 has officially begun with a grand launch ceremony at the Maranadu Karuppasamy Temple in Sivaganga. Directed by Tamizharasan Pachamuthu of Lubber Pandhu fame, the film is being produced by Sithara Entertainments, Primark Productions and Srikara Studios, with a Summer 2027 release planned.
The launch visuals have already created curiosity around the film’s world. As part of the special pooja, the team offered an 18-foot-long sickle to the deity at the temple. The weapon is associated with Karuppasamy worship and gives the launch a strong cultural and rooted touch. The makers also marked the beginning of the shoot with the traditional first clap.
The launch video and event visuals have also revealed the key cast. Alongside Dhanush, the film features Vadivelu, SJ Suryah, Preity Mukundhan and Vijay B Kumar in important roles. Sai Abhyankkar is composing the music, while Tamizharasan Pachamuthu is handling the direction. Naga Vamsi, Haritha Lingusamy and Sai Soujanya are backing the project through their respective production banners.
Interestingly, the makers have not announced the official title yet. Reports have linked the project to the title Padaiyal, but an official confirmation is still awaited. Vadivelu also described the film as a unique story without political influence, while SJ Suryah highlighted its rooted setting and the director’s writing.
With Dhanush, Vadivelu and SJ Suryah coming together under Tamizharasan Pachamuthu’s direction, D56 has made an intriguing start. More details about the story, title and other technical crew members are expected to be announced soon.
