Sree Vishnu’s Comrade Kalyan trailer packs comedy, romance and action into an entertaining setup. The trailer introduces Kalyan and his family in a light-hearted manner before gradually revealing the more serious world surrounding him. Set against the backdrop of the early 1990s, the film is directed by Janakiram Marella and is scheduled to release on October 9.
One of the funniest portions revolves around Kalyan’s mother, who is a passionate Balakrishna fan. During a theatre visit, she gets into a heated argument with a person who calls the film an average movie and ends up hitting him with a bottle. She lands at the police station, where Brahmaji plays the SI. When told that an attempted-murder case could lead to seven years in jail, her concern is hilariously about missing Balakrishna films such as Bobbili Simham and Bhairava Dweepam.
The romantic track enters with Sitara, played by Mahima Nambiar. She speaks a different language, leaving Kalyan curious about what she is saying. Their interactions bring another layer of humour to the trailer, while Sitara’s character appears to be connected to the dance world.
The tone changes when the trailer introduces Kalyan’s connection to the Naxalite movement. He is described as a most-wanted figure, creating a sharp contrast with the easygoing character seen in the earlier portions. The trailer keeps the circumstances surrounding this side of his life for the film.
Along with Sree Vishnu and Mahima Nambiar, the cast includes Radhika Sarathkumar, Shine Tom Chacko and Upendra Limaye in important roles. With its combination of quirky humour, romance and a serious action backdrop, Comrade Kalyan promises a different kind of entertainer from Sree Vishnu.
