Champion, released in theatres on Christmas, earned Rs 11.50 Cr on the first weekend. It was a 4-day weekend.

Directed by Pradeep Advaitham, Champion is set in the early days of Indian Independence. "This is not a one-hero movie. From the village Bhairanpally to so many others, everyone is like a hero. The climax was shot over 15 days and it involved 200 artists. The village witnessed extreme violence. To do justice to the real incident, we had to show it on a big scale with lots of detailing," the director recently said.
Co-starring Prakash Raj, Kalyan Chakravarthy, Murali Sharma and several others, the film's music is composed by Mickey J Meyer.
To celebrate the reception, Roshan Meka and his heroine, Anaswara Rajan, today visited Tirumala to seek the divine blessings of Lord Venkateswara. This is Roshan's second film as a hero. After Champion, Roshan will be doing a film under Sithara Entertainments. It will be directed by Sailesh Kolanu, and will be a rom-com.
