AR Rahman about collaborating with Hans Zimmer on Ranbir Kapoor's Ramayana

Oscar-winning legends Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman are composing the music for Ranbir Kapoor's Ramayana movies. In his latest interview, Rahman has opened up about collaborating with the Hollywood music legend for the project. The first session was in London, the second one was in LA, and the third was in Dubai. Wherever Hans travels, I also find a base there, the Thug Life composer said. Rahman said that Hans is very similar to him in terms of how curious he is about the culture and how open he is to criticism. The Ponniyin Selvan music director hinted at Hans bringing in a Western perspective to the project. Rahman made the remarks in a conversation with Connect Cine. Ramayana will be released in two parts. The makers plan to release Part 1 for Diwali 2026 release. Part 2 will be a Diwali 2027 release. Producer Namit Malhotra recently said that the budget for the two Ramayana movies will be Rs 4,000 Cr. We are funding it ourselves. We are not taking anybody s money. People thought I was crazy when we started six-seven years ago, just after the pandemic. No Indian film had come close to this kind of budget, he has been quoted as saying.
