Senior producer Allu Aravind has opined that there is no point in pursuing Hollywood-style blockbusters, opining that Indian filmmakers should instead to focus on deeply local, sincerely crafted stories to achieve global acclaim.
Speaking at the Telangana Rising Summit, the Geetha arts supremo highlighted the success of films like Kantara and Pushpa, emphasizing that their widespread appeal stems from their authentic, regional roots. "Indian films which have gone far and wide began as locally set movies. Take the example of Kantara and Pushpa. They were set in local settings, be it Chittoor or coastal Karnataka. They were sincerely made," Allu Aravind stated.
The producer firmly advocated for prioritizing genuine storytelling over large-scale spectacle. He argued that the path to international recognition lies in authenticity and local flavor, not in imitation of Western cinema.
"We shouldn't try to make Transformers and Avengers. We should try to tell great stories rooted in the soil. We should then project them to the world," he concluded, suggesting that the sincerity and regional specificity of films are their greatest assets in reaching a global audience.
