71st National Film Awards: Balagam's Ooru Palleturu bags Award for Best Lyrics

The 71st National Film Awards for the year 2023 were announced today. Ooru Palleturu from the acclaimed Telugu movie Balagam won an Award for Best Lyrics . Kasarla Shyam will receive the award. The deeply evocative and poignant song was composed by Bheems Ceciroleo . It was sung by Mangli and Ram Miriyala . The song resonated with audiences for its soulful melody and heartfelt lyrical content. Critics lauded it as a nostalgic and grounded one. The song beautifully captures the essence of rural life, the strong emotional bonds within a family, and the bittersweet feelings associated with loss and remembrance. It often plays during moments of emotional significance in the film, particularly those involving the passing of a loved one and the subsequent rituals and reflections. Balagam has been a critically acclaimed drama film directed by debutant Venu Yeldandi and produced by Dil Raju Productions . Released on March 3, 2023, it featured Priyadarshi and others. It was recently conferred with the Best Feature Film (Gold) Gaddar Award by the Telangana government. Producers Hanshitha Reddy and Harshith Reddy bankrolled it. Earlier, it won three Filmfare Awards South 2024. Several international awards like the Swedish International Film Festival 2023 also feted it.
