Shankar Mahadevan’s rendition of Om Namah Shivaya, with music by Stephen Devassy and lyrics by Suddala Ashok Teja, is less a gentle hymn and more a sonic tempest. It’s a devotional track that pulses with an almost rap-like energy. Instead of serene invocation, the song consciously attempts something unique.
The music, characterized by its instrumentation and rhythmic intensity, mirrors the powerful presence attributed to Mahadeva Shastri, the name of Dr. Mohan Babu‘s character. Suddala Ashok Teja’s lyrics are equally potent. The lyrics paint a vivid picture of Mahadeva Shastri’s power and divine grace.
Kannappa also features Prabhas and Akshay Kumar in powerful cameos, respectively, as Rudra and Shiva. Mohan Babu (also the film’s producer), Mohanlal, Mukesh Rishi, and Sarath Kumar are part of the cast. The Summer release also features Preity Mukundan, Arpit Ranka, Brahmanandam, Saptagiri, Madhubala, Aishwarya Bhaskaran, Brahmaji, Devaraj, Raghu Babu, Siva Balaji, Sampath Ram, Lavi Pajni, Surekha Vani, Kaushal And Adhurs Raghu. Twenty Four Frames Factory and AVA Entertainment have produced this Mukhesh Kumar Singh directorial.
The film will hit the screens on April 25th.
