Leading producer Dil Raju today interacted with the media in Hyderabad a day after IT searches on his properties came to a conclusion. The head of Sri Venkateswara Creations said that the IT department was satisfied with the book-keeping. They found no discrepancies, and went back satisfied.
Here is what Dil Raju said:
I am speaking to the media to put the record straight. Many speculative reports are doing the rounds. IT searches are commonplace on businesses. Production houses and financiers face IT searches from time to time.
For the first three days, searches were held separately by IT officials. On Day 4, yesterday, a summary was written.
Media reports about seizures made are false. Nothing has been seized. No documents were identified or seized. Less than Rs 20 lakh in total was found on the premises of me and my family members.
Since we are into production, distribution as well as exhibition, they went into details by checking all documents/records. The looked into the records concerning all 24 crafts related to my projects, including Game Changer. They looked into whether I have made other investments in the last five years. They inquired with others if I have made any investments.
The IT department was surprised that the books were clean.
My mother fell sick around January 19th. A section of the media has blown her hospitalization out of proportion. She has been treated for a small lung infection issue.
Please don’t make any speculations. This is the first IT raid on us after 18 years. That last search took place in 2008. Raids this time took place on other production houses as well. We haven’t been singled out.
Most of the ticket bookings are happening online these days. This is all white money. The media makes up things all the time, saying there is so much black money around. Those narratives are entirely false.
