‘Thangalaan’, starring Vikram in the lead, is currently available on Netflix. The film has started streaming on the OTT giant in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam.
“A quest for gold and justice buried deep in the pages of history! (sic),” Netflix stated.
The film is set in the British Colonial era. It tells the story of a fierce tribal chieftain named Thangalaan (Vikram) and his tribe from a remote hamlet. They assist British General Lord Clement in prospecting for riches from the gold mines in their village. While searching for riches, the villagers arouse the wrath of the local mythical figure, Aarathi. In the pursuit of gold, can greed prove to be the ultimate evil? The background of Thangalaan’s story is what ultimately happens to the good-hearted and innocent tribal people.
Directed by Pa.Ranjith, the soundtracks for Thangalaan are a step up and are among of GV Prakash Kumar’s best compositions as a music director. The cinematography is done by Kishor Kumar. The film’s visuals are a breathtaking theatrical experience, with each picture framed like a masterpiece and certain necessary moments even managing to evoke a sense of eeriness.
