Thammudu to Vishwambhara Upcoming Telugu films contain divine elements

Telugu cinema is set to witness a resurgence of spiritual and divine narratives, with at least four films incorporating strong devotional/divine elements. TFN tells you what they are about.

Vishwambhara: A rumour is that a strong Lord Hanuman element is integral to the film’s plot. This was almost confirmed by the film’s first lyrical video, titled Rama Raama. The devotional song was released on Hanuman Jayanthi. Chiranjeevi’s fantasy action entertainer is yet to lock its release date.

Thammudu: The film has an element involving the prowess of Goddess Bagalamukhi, who is revered as the eighth of the ten Mahavidyas. She is a highly powerful Tantric goddess, known as someone who can paralyze and immobile one’s enemies. Director Venu Sriram’s narration involves a malevolent desperado (played by Saurabh Sachdeva). Starring Nithiin, Laya, Sapthami Gowda, Varsha Bollamma and others, Thammudu will hit the screens on July 4th.

Naga Bandham: This film stars Virat Karrna of Pedha Kapu fame in the lead. A grand Anantha Padmanabha Swamy temple set has been erected on a huge budget for an episode in the film. Recent media reports spoke of the wow factor this true-to-life set evokes.

Kannappa: It goes without saying that this is mainly a devotional film retelling the story of Bhakta Kannappa. This Manchu Vishnu-Prabhas movie is expected to set new benchmarks for the genre. The film releases in theaters on June 27th.
