Prabhas will be seen in many scenes in Kannappa, which is scheduled to hit the screens on June 27th. Besides the Rebel Star, the devotional action drama also features Akshay Kumar and Mohanlal in super-interesting roles. Did the makers require the three superstars to be present for many days on sets? How did they plan their scenes?
Manchu Vishnu has narrated how meticulously their scenes were planned. Before their schedules, their scenes were shot in actual sets with theatre artists. “Right from lighting to camera angles, everything was planned extensively beforehand. We shot the scenes with theatre artists and scrutinized how they shaped up. We made corrections where required. Once we were ready, we simply re-shot those scenes with Prabhas garu and others. As such, we didn’t require many days from their call-sheets,” Vishnu says.
Prabhas was given two options. He chose to play Rudra. “On social media, many speculated that it was Lord Shiva. We didn’t put the record straight. We just watched them talk about our movie,” Vishnu says.
Vishnu feels that a cameo by Superstar Rajinikanth was mulled over at one point. “Rajinikanth uncle would have done Kannappa had we approached him. But there was no suitable role for him. A couple of scenes were conceived but they looked quite forced. So, we dropped the idea,” Vishnu adds.
