Shraddha Srinath is confident that Daaku Maharaaj will prove to be a new high in her career. This is her second collaboration with Sithara Entertainments, the first one being Nani’s Jersey. The film hits the screens on January 12.
In her latest interview, Shraddha says that Daaku Maharaaj is so unlike her previous movies. For years, Shraddha has mostly acted in subtle movies with serious themes. The Balakrishna movie, she iterates, is a complete departure in the sense that it is a package film of sorts with all the elements you would associate with a Sankranthi release.
She further talks about her character. “In the film, I portray Nandini, a character defined by her gentle and quiet demeanor. She also possesses a strong sense of self and knows when to assert her boundaries,” the Mechanic Rocky actress says, suggesting that Bobby Kolli has offered her a layered character that is different from those female actors typically get to play in mainstream cinema.
Shraddha‘s appearance in the film is crafted with thought. There is a hint that even the choice of fabrics and hairstyle had so much thought into it.
Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai (Hindi) was a rage when Shraddha was all of 10 year old. In a way, the movie helped her realize her potential for acting. “After watching the movie, I cried out in front of a mirror imitating a character from the movie. I realized I had a flair for dramatics at that age,” Shraddha says. She will be seen as a prominent journalist in her upcoming Tamil movie, Aaryan. She is also doing a Hindi film which she says is “amazing”.
Daaku Maharaaj is produced by S Naga Vamsi. Thaman is its music director.
