Godavari is going to be-released in theatres on March 1st. Originally released in theatres way back in 2006, the romantic comedy drama film was directed by Sekhar Kammula.
Starring Sumanth, Kamalinee Mukherjee and others, Godavari won multiple Nandis. Best Director (Kammula), Second Best Feature Film, Best Music Director (KM Radha Krishnan), Best Cinematographer (Vijay C Kumar) and Best Female Playback Singer (Sunitha for the song Andamgalena). Legendary lyricist Veturi won Best Lyricist award at the 54th Filmfare Awards South for Uppongene Godavari.
Godavari also featured Neetu Chandra, Kamal Kamaraju, CVL Narasimha Rao, Lalitha Sindhuri, Madhumani, Tanikella Bharani, Shiva and Karate Kalyani.
Kammula, who abides by authentic casting, picked as many as twenty-five new faces for the pic. They were stage actors who hailed from the Godavari districts. He didn’t want his artists to sound like they were trying to imitate the actors from veteran filmmaker Vamsy’s movies. The Fidaa and Love Story director also wanted them to look as authentic as the artists from Lagaan.
Director Kammula’s next theatrical release is Kubera, starring Dhanush, Rashmika Mandanna, and Akkineni Nagarjuna.
