The Sankranthiki Vasthunam Distributors Gratitude Meet was held today in Hyderabad in the presence of the film’s distributors, producer duo Dil Raju and Shirish, and director Anil Ravipudi.
A distributor stated that the Anil Ravipudi directorial has fetched the highest returns in many years. West Godavari distributor LVR said, “I have distributed SVC’s movies for the past 20 years. This is the first time that distributors have felicitated a producer publicly. The audience are thirsty for good content. The stupendous success of Sankranthiki Vasthunam has proved that there is tremendous appetite for good content. Dil Raju garu has made a movie that the market was asking for.”
Ceded distributor Shoban said, “I have known SVC for the past 25 years. Each and every distributor is extremely happy today because of the latest blockbuster. This is my fourth movie with SVC.”
East Godavari distributor Uday Raju said, “We are happy to have been a part of the biggest regional hit.”
Nellore distributor Hari said, “Film distribution has become extremely risky these days. Thanks to Sankranthiki Vasthunam, we have got the energy back to be in the industry for ten more years. Anil Ravipudi garu has given us three Sankranthi hits: F2, Sarileru Neekevvaru, and the latest blockbuster. Thanks to Dil Raju garu and the director, our family members have been stress-free. The success of this film is so huge that it is nothing short of a miracle. The recovery has been 400% in my case.”
Karnataka distributor Razesh Danda said that the recovery has been more than 600% in his market.
Writer and Anil’s long-time associate Sai Krishna said that Anil’s success rate has been unimpeachable. “It feels bad to see netizens lecturing Anil on how to make movies,” Sai Krishna said.
Producer Shirish said, “Distributors have not been respected for the past few years. Sankranthiki Vasthunam has brought back their old glory. Today, our distributors are honestly sharing the figures the movie has made. Many distributors have abandoned us in recent years after some setbacks. But the distributors who are present here today have remained steadfast with us. I thank them all.”
Dil Raju said, “Some distributors here have been with us since Bommarillu, released in 2006. Such a long association is rare in the film industry. Sankranthiki Vasthunam is a sixer of a movie made in just 72 working days. This movie has taught us that our banner should not hanker after combinations but go by our old ways of believing in the strength of the subject. Our banner has made six movies with Anil. Every time, he has given us zero stress. I thank Venkatesh garu. As the son of a producer, he knows the value of a producer. He has always been extremely supportive. We have made four movies with him.”
Dil Raju said that, each day, an under-production film provides livelihoods to at least 500 people. “Recently, I told an IT official that 90% of movies lose money. He was shocked and asked me why we continue to make movies despite the low strike rate. Each producer has their own motivations. The number of distributors has been going down. Most distributors are being demotivated by their own family members to stop investing in movies. Such is the scenario. Top heroes are doing just one film per two years. The trend is changing slowly, though. Prabhas and Allu Arjun want to pick pace. With more and more films being made, success rate is going to go up. That’s the only solution. There is no hegemonic battle among the producers. You will be forgotten if you fail to generate hit movies. Producers make their own rational calculations before launching a project. Heroes are paid the remuneration that pays off, not more than what is viable for the producer. If the culture of revenue-sharing between the hero, director and producer takes off, it will only be good news for the producer.”
