Sankarabharanam is a classic drama in Indian cinema that deals with different perspectives on music, including the classical and the western. K Viswanath is the writer and director of the film. Jandhyala penned the dialogues for the film. Sankarabharanam is considered a masterpiece in Indian cinema and has bagged many awards across the world. Sankarabharanam won four national film awards and seven Nandi awards from the state. It is also internationally acclaimed at many film festivals. Today, Sankarabharanam receives yet another commendation.
Sankarabharanam got a rare recognition at the International Film Festival of India, Goa, recently. It is known to us all that the government of India is selecting a few classics from the recent past and digitalizing them for the future. Sankarabharanam also joins the list, and it has been announced that the film is now officially a part of the National Film Archives. The announcement was made at the International Film Festival of Goa, India.
Sankarabharanam is written and directed by K Viswanath. E Nageswara Rao produced the film. Somayajulu, Manju Bhargavi, and Chandra Mohan played the lead roles in the film. KV Mahadevan composed the music. Sankarabharanam was released on February 2, 1980.
