Telugu cinema lyricist Kulasekhar is no more. He passed away on Tuesday at Hyderabad’s Gandhi Hospital while undergoing treatment for a terminal illness.
Kulasekhar began his career as a journalist in the 1990s. Since his passion lied in creative writing, he worked as an apprentice under Sirivennela Sitaramasastry. He made his debut in the late 1990s as a lyricist by writing songs for mostly small films. Mrugaraju, Nuvvu Nenu, Jayam, Gharshana, Subbu and Vasantham are among his earliest movies. Director Teja’s youthful movies helped Kulasekhar find his mojo.
Kulasekhar tried to reinvent himself with a directorial titled Premalekha Rasa, which was stuck due to financial issues. Undue delay in its release ruined his plans.
After tasting initial success as a lyricist, Kulasekhar’s personal life took a tragic turn. A news report in 2013 stated that he was mentally unstable due to some setbacks. A brain injury had rendered him unconscious for a few days, the report stated.
Kulasekhar’s passing away is tragic. May his family and friends have the strength to overcome the loss!
