Ghaati Movie Review: An Authentic & Wholesome Actioner Rooted in Good Vs. Evil Battle

Ghaati is produced by Yeduguru Rajeev Reddy and Saibabu Jagarlamudi, under First Frame Entertainments, and presented by UV Creations. TFN reviews the latest box office release. Story: The story is set in a ghat bordering Andhra and Odisha. In a ghaati village, Kaastala Naidu (Ravindra Vijay) rules the roost by making everyone do ganja cultivation for him. Sheelavathi, the best variety of ganja, has to be grown and sold only by him. However, when Sheelavathi (Anushka Shetty) and Desi Raju (Vikram Prabhu) branch out and do their own operations, Kaastala Naidu and Kundhal Naidu (Chaitanya Rao) decide to teach them a lesson. As far as they are concerned, ordinary masses dwelling the Ghaati can’t do business. What are the consequences of this all-out battle between the two sides? What will Sheelavathi do to uphold her honour? That’s what the second half is about. Analysis: Movements, gestures, and posture of the lead actors reflect the lifestyle of tribal life. The lives of the characters played by Anushka Shetty and Vikram Prabhu are rooted in manual labor, closeness to nature, and community rituals. They successfully avoid modern mannerisms. The patterns and local dialects sound authentic. They, along with the likes of Chaitanya Rao Madadi, show a sense of familiarity with the surroundings. Full marks to Anushka Shetty. She may be rebellious, misjudged, or truly dangerous at first. Either way, her performance balances internal conflict and a simmering sense of injustice. Jagapathi Babu plays an evil cop who gets two effective scenes. Jisshu Sengupta is seen as the biggest player in the syndicate. John Vijay plays a corrupted cop, while VTV Ganesh is seen in another negative role. To his credit, Krish Jagarlamudi avoids overt exposition. He does full justice both to the love story as well as the action backdrop. In his pre-release interviews, Krish iterated and reiterated that Ghaati is a full-blown actioner. While the screenplay lives up to this description, the soulful relationship between Sheela and Desi Raju feels wholesome. Their love story is built through a flashback and a couple of songs. Manojh Reddy Katasani’s cinematography and Nagavelli Vidya Sagar’s music suit the backdrop. Sailore, Dassora Dassora and Sirimara Sirimara are staged well. Before its release, Anushka Shetty spoke of a crossover film involving Sheela and Pushpa Raj. Krish’s imagination crosses over into the Sukumar territory here and there. In this respect, Ghaati is his most commercially mainstream movie, especially during the second half, where the protagonist’s heroism and courage produce whistle-worthy moments. Verdict: Ghaati is a compelling action-drama that excels with its authentic portrayal of tribal life and strong performances, particularly from Anushka Shetty. Director Krish Jagarlamudi masterfully balances high-octane action with a soulful love story, making for a commercially appealing and satisfying cinematic experience. The film’s technical aspects, including cinematography and music, further elevate the storytelling.
