Retro, the action thriller starring Suriya, will hit the screens on May 1st. Directed by Karthik Subbaraj, its release date was announced today.
Retro, whose Title Teaser was unveiled recently, is set in the 1980s. This being a romantic film with lots of action, rather than just a gangster action drama, the time period makes sense.

Pooja Hegde plays Suriya’s girlfriend in the movie. Malayalam actor Joju George, Jayaram, Prakash Raj and Karunakaran are essaying pivotal roles. Retro boasts a stellar technical crew, including music director Santhosh Narayanan, cinematographer Shreyaas Krishna, and editor Mohammed Shafique Ali. The film is produced by Jyotika – Suriya.
Retro is produced jointly by Stone Bench Films and 2D Entertainment. Jacki and Mayapandi are the art directors. Retro is one of the most-awaited Kollywood films of the year.
Suriya’s 45th film is directed by RJ Balaji. Produced by Dream Warrior Pictures, the film follows Retro, which is the actor’s 44th movie. The release date of Suriya45 is yet to be announced.
