Hombale Films has refuted the baseless gossip that the release date of Kantara: Chapter 1 has been indefinitely changed. The film is going to hit the screens on October 2nd, 2025.
In an official update, the production house called the media reports speculating about the film’s postponement as unverified. “We’re right on track, and everything is progressing as planned. Kantara: Chapter 1 will release in theatres worldwide on October 2, 2025. Trust us, it’ll be worth the wait. We kindly urge everyone to avoid speculation and refrain from sharing unverified updates,” the banner wrote.

Set in the times of the Kadamba Empire at Kundapur, the period action thriller film is acted and directed by Rishab Shetty. “Our film is going to immerse the viewers in an era of valor, culture, and mystique. Detailed architecture and lifelike surroundings will transport the audience to a bygone time,” the makers stated in November last year while announcing the release date. Produced by Vijay Kiragandur, the film is a prequel to the 2022 movie, Kantara. B Ajaneesh Loknath and Arvind S Kashyap are the film’s music director and cinematographer, respectively. Todor Lazarov of RRR fame is the action director of this movie, to be released in Kannada, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Bengali and English.
