This Diwali has been splendid for the box office. The audience have had a buffet to choose from. Let’s analyze what the three acclaimed and commercially robust festival are reaping this season.
Lucky Baskhar: Dulquer Salmaan’s con-artist financial crime thriller grossed Rs 12.70 crores on the first day of its release. The film has set its sights on its certain durability. The superbly-written and executed film is not only holding its ground but is also trending big-time on the ticket-booking platform, Book My Show. Directed by Venky Atluri, the film’s raison d’etre is its originality, rare genre, and exceptional production values.
KA: This is going to be Kiran Abbavaram’s first big-league hit. The period release amassed more than Rs 6 crores at the box office on day one. With no fake thrills and forced elements, KA has shown how a high-concept thriller must be made in a rural setting. Vamsi Nandipati, the film’s distribution hand in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, expects KA to continue to prove its stamina for the next few weeks.
Amaran: The Sivakarthikeyan-Sai Pallavi movie took sensational openings at the BO on day one. As per the makers, it made more than Rs 42 crores (Gross) on its first day. Military movies and biological war action dramas have a lot of potential. And Amaran registering stupendous openings is proof enough that the appetite for the genre is insatiable.
In summation, the real winner this Diwali is the box office itself.
