Actor Manchu Vishnu held a private screening of Kannappa for Superstar Rajinikanth, a dear family friend. The Jailer and Vettaiyan actor watched the devotional action drama on Sunday evening with Vishnu and Mohan Babu. The latter shares screen space with his son in the Monsoon release.
Taking to social media, Vishnu revealed that Rajini gave him a tight hug after the screening. “Rajinikanth uncle loved Kannappa. I waited 22 years as an actor for that hug from him. Today, I feel encouraged. Humbled. Grateful. Kannappa is coming on 27th June and I can’t wait for the world to feel the magic of Lord Shiva,” wrote Vishnu. Recently, Vishnu stated that he didn’t want to include a forced cameo, which is why Rajini was not approached for Kannappa.

The screening was held on the 30th anniversary of Pedarayudu, a Mohan Babu-led blockbuster featuring Rajini in a powerful cameo. “The love, warmth, and encouragement he gave after the film is something I will never forget,” Mohan Babu wrote, thanking his long-time friend.
The film, starring Prabhas in a 30-minute role, is touted to be a “saga of devotion and bravery”.
The team behind the big-budget epic plans to hold a grand pre-release event on June 17th at the Statue of Belief (Vishwas Swaroopam) at Nathdwara in Rajasthan.
Twenty Four Frames Factory and AVA Entertainment have produced Kannappa. Mohanlal and Akshay Kumar have powerful cameos. Preithy Mukundan plays Kannappa’s love interest, while Kajal Aggarwal plays Goddess Parvathi. Mohan Babu plays a revered sage.
