‘Pushpa 2 The Rule‘ is releasing this Thursday on about 12,000 screens worldwide. This mammoth release is one of the biggest we have ever witnessed. Let’s find out what the film is about.
Story:
Pushpa Raj decides to install his man as the Chief Minister of the state after an incident involving the incumbent CM. In his attempt to help Siddappa Naidu (Rao Ramesh) ascend to the throne, he heightens the stakes and makes a new enemy.
Meanwhile, Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat (Fahadh Faasil) is mad at him because of an insult (remember the climax of the first part?). Will Shekhawat and Prathap Reddy (Jagapathi Babu) be able to defeat Pushpa Raj?
Analysis:
For Allu Arjun, Pushpa Raj was right up his alley. The rough-edged character makes the best use of his abilities. A challenging sequence wherein he is literally tied up measures up to his immense knack. The actor, rebranded for the Pushpa as an Icon Star, aces the formidably-choreographed songs and fights. The charged-up action sequences are rollicking because of his indomitable screen presence.
Rashmika Mandanna as Srivalli is irreplaceable. She is endearing in all the scenes where she anchors her husband’s emotions. Fahadh Faasil gets at least two solid scenes. More than Jagadeesh Prathap Bandari (playing Kesava) and Brahmaji, it is the talents of Rao Ramesh, Anasuya Bharadwaj, Sunil, Ajay and Tarak Ponnappa that have been used well.
Miroslaw Kuba Brozek’s cinematography is top-tier. Devi Sri Prasad’s music for the songs is impeccable. The BGM is composed mostly by DSP himself, whereas Sam CS provides additional score. Sooseki, Peelings and Kissik, in that order, are just wow. Mythri Movie Makers ensures that the scale of the movie is remarkable.
The action scenes have been choreographed by Peter Hein, Kecha Kamphakdee, Dragon Prakash and Nabakanta. The Jathara sequence and the pre-climax action sequence are mind-blowing. It might be slightly unpopular to say this but the latter is superior. Bunny’s performance in the pre-climax action part is insanely good.

1. The Jathara episode and how a song is inserted into it.
2. An action sequence involving Pushpa Raj and a bunch of harassers.
3. The interval block wherein an old rivalry is taken to the next level by the lead man.
4. The opening sequence in Japan.
5. Srikanth Vissa’s dialogues.
6. The episodic narration.
7. The violence is not mindless. The focus is as much on the drama as it is on the hero’s undefeated rise.
8. No forced elements.
Verdict:
‘Pushpa 2 The Rule‘ is a must-watch mass action drama with loads of takeaways. The emotional climax is the calm that comes after a storm; the pay-off is as solid as the climax of ‘Animal’ (2023). Allu Arjun’s energetic and focused performance is whistle-worthy. Director Sukumar makes a memorable sequel. The film ends by teasing the audience to ‘Pushpa 3: The Rampage’.
