Ponniyin Selvan Part-2 Telugu Movie Synopsis:
Ponniyin Selvan Part-2 is the sequel to the iconic film Ponniyin Selvan Part-1 which was released last year. Both films are directed by the poetic director Mani Ratnam. The story of Ponniyin Selvan is based on the book with the same title by Kalki Krishnamurthy. This is the dream project of Mani Ratnam and is made as a periodic action film. This film is the epic historical story of the Chola Empire and is made in multiple languages.
The cast of the film continues from the first part, including Chiyaan Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Prabhu, R. Sarath Kumar, Vikram Prabhu, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Rahman, and Radhakrishnan Parthiban. Ponniyin Selvan Part-2 is produced by Subaskaran and Mani Ratnam under the banners of Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies. The music for the film is composed by sensational music director AR Rahman. This film is being presented in Telugu by Dil Raju under Sri Venkateswara Creations.
Ponniyin Selvan Part-2 Telugu Movie Review:
The first part ended with Arunmozhi Varman getting rescued by a woman who looks like Nandini, while everyone back at Thanjavur thinks that he has died in the ocean. This sends huge ripples through Thanjavur. Karikaaludu, on the other hand, thinks this is all the effect of Nandini’s play for the destruction of the Chola dynasty. So he starts marching towards her with his army. In the meantime, we get to see that Arunmozhi is recovering in Sri Lanka. The movie reveals much more interesting plot lines, like the relationship between Nandini and Madhuranthakan, who is the rescuer of Arunmozhi, and the showdown between Nandini and Karikaaludu. Karikaaludu and Nandini’s confrontation scenes were one of the best highlights of the film.
Apart from the plotline, we get to see good visuals in the film, just like in PS1, even more polished. The action packed war scenes are pretty good, with Arunmozhi, Vandiyadevudu, Karikaaludu, and the army fighting against enemy forces. The movie is even more of a treat to the senses when witnessed on big screens in 4K and Dolby Atmos, as they have done a great job in editing and sound mixing, which makes the essential elements pop.
Performances:
Vikram as Aditya Karikaaludu gave the best portrayal of the character, which was filled with soul. The audience will get to see Vikram’s performance, which connects every audience across language barriers. His characterization by Mani Ratnam was excellent.
Jayam Ravi as Arunmozhi Varma, aka Ponniyin Selvan has an important role in this film, which is emotional and highlights his role. He even aced the action and war sequences. His role will be remembered by the audience forever. His role is calm but has emotional depths.
Karthi, as Vandiyadevudu, is a close friend helping Aditya Karikaaludu in the war. Just like in the first part, he plays a major role in PS 2 too. However, the fun part of Karthi in PS1 will be missing in PS2. His role in PS 2 involves more emotion and drama.
Aishwarya Rai as Nandini and Trisha as Kundavai have gracefully done their parts in the film. Their beauty and the body language with which they performed were apt for the princess roles they have played. Both actresses had major parts in the film, just like the first part of Ponniyin Selvan. The attitude with which they have performed will make you adore them even more. Their screen presence has just elevated the film.
All the other actors, including Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prakash Raj, Sarathkumar, and Jayaram, had prominent characters in supporting roles. They gave their best performances in their respective roles.
Technicalities:
Mani Ratnam has dreamed about this film franchise and has given his best in all the departments, including technicalities and actor choices. Most of the first part of the film is the introduction of the roles and their characters. The second part of the film, Ponniyin Selvan Part-2 contains the main plot of the movie. The making of the war scenes and other impactful scenes was exceptional. The whole film has an engaging storyline with a lot of interesting narration. Mani Ratnam has a good vision and has portrayed the epic historical characters with perfection. This film was planned by him for a long time and has been executed with ease and excellence.
The music is one of the most important aspects of the film and has elevated the whole plot to the next level. AR Rahman has never disappointed his fans or audiences. Ponniyin Selvan Part-2 also comes under the same group. The duo of Mani Ratnam and AR Rahman has always delivered some of the industry’s best melodies. The musician’s choice of music and the beat for every scene are just perfect, just like in PS 1.
All the technicalities involved in the Ponniyin Selvan project are perfect in their respective fields. Everyone of them should be appreciated for the hard work they put into the film.

The movie has some of the best performances, which makes the audience feel emotion and tension in the movie. You can watch the second chapter first as well, but it’s best to watch the first chapter before going to the second chapter so that you’ll get introduced to the characters.
