NGK Movie Review – It’s A Suriya Show All The Way
NGK: Nandha Gopalan Kumaran (Tamil) and Nanda Gopala Krishna (Telugu,) have been creating a rousing buzz for the past one month, with Suriya returning to his power packed element in a political drama. The trailer showed the disillusion of a common man, with local politicians and Nandha Gopala Kumaran taking a political plunge right away. Suriya is supported by an able starcast, with the towering directorial skills of Selvaraghavan to mount a political thriller of this proportion.
Movie Details:
Cast: Suriya, Sai Pallavi, Rakul Preet Singh, Jagapathi Babu
Music: Yuvan Shankar Raja
Director: Selvaraghavan (Sri Raghava in Telugu)
Story:
Nandha Gopalan Kumaran (NGK) is a sincere party worker, who toils strenuously at the grass root levels for the development of his constituency. However, his popularity does not go well with the local politicians, who create obstacles for him at every step he takes to develop his area.
His family, including his mother, are worried about his political plunge, but his wife Mythili Kumaran supports him and encourages him to take the final plunge. The way he topples every political don to make his way to pinnacle is the crux of the story.
Sai Pallavi as Mythili Kumaran and Rakul Preet Singh as Vanathi, the political journalist, play their roles with pitch perfect accuracy. Devaraj plays the local politician in the village, who is eventually defeated by Kumaran. His role is pivotal before the interval block.
Review:
NGK is an out and out Suriya film. The naivety he shows in the opening scenes, unable to fathom the treachery of local politicians shows Suriya’s mature performing skills, without being a caricature. The way Suriya transforms from a naive young man to a tactful politician is amazingly shown in the movie. The interval block when he thrashes the con men of the villain and then decides to take political plunge and file nomination in the municipality, are outstanding scenes depicting Suriya’s genius and Selvaraghavan’s superb direction. This film will be remembered for Suriya’s powerhouse performance for a long time.
