Former actress Namrata Shirodkar has inaugurated Andhra Pradesh’s first-ever mother’s Milk Bank. Andhra Hospitals is where the first-of-its-kind bank is located. As per the promoters, the facility will “provide vital support to newborns whose mothers are unable to produce milk”. Screening processes are going to be meticulous.
Namrata described the visit as one filled with purpose. “I spent time with the little fighters at the Pediatric Cardiac ICU. I got to celebrate their courage and resilience,” she said.
A cervical cancer vaccination drive for girls aged 9 to 18 years was also started on the occasion. Namrata was there as a representative of the Mahesh Babu Foundation, which has facilitated over 4,500 pediatric heart surgeries in the last ten years.
Namrata Shirodkar has previously reached out to the handloom weaver community from Narayanpet in Telangana. Local-made products such as handloom sarees, bamboo crafts, clay jewellery, and palm leaf crafts have received support from the Foundation.
