Yuva Samrat-Akkineni Naga Chaitanya is gearing up for the massive release of his upcoming drama ‘Thandel’, in which he plays a fisherman from his home region of Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh. In order to play Thandel Raju, Naga Chaitanya had to learn the local Srikakulam dialect, which required him to venture outside of his comfort zone even though he has always been appreciated for his gentle and lover boy roles.
Naga Chaitanya‘s recent outings weren’t that satisfactory and hence the ‘Manam’ actor is said to have taken time to prepare himself for Thandel. In a recent media interaction, Naga Chaitanya stated that he had spent close to nine months working on his looks for Thandel while simultaneously participating in the movie’s pre-production work.
“I was specially trained in the Srikakulam dialect, and I spent some time in the nearby regions to understand the Uttarandhra lingo. I am sure the result will shown in the movie”, Naga Chaitanya stated.
Naga Chaitanya seems to be extremely optimistic about Thandel‘s success, as he terms it his ‘biggest film ever’. “Thandel is an inspirational story. I wanted to be sure that everything went right into Thandel Raju’s character, especially the accent. It took me days of practice, and now I am confident,” Naga Chaitanya stated.
The real-life events that inspired Thandel involved a group of fishermen who got lost at sea and ended up in Pakistani waters. Once they are apprehended by border security in Pakistan, they must overcome numerous obstacles before they may return home safely.
Directed by Chandoo Mondeti, Thandel has Sai Pallavi playing the leading lady opposite Naga Chaitanya. Rockstar Devi Sri Prasad is scoring the music for this emotional drama bankrolled by GA2 Pictures, Thandel is slated for Dasara 2024 release.
