Following the blockbuster success of Mathu Vadalara in 2019, the highly anticipated sequel Mathu Vadalara 2, starring Sri Simha Koduri and Faria Abdullah, hit theaters today. With the original’s popularity, director Ritesh Rana had high expectations for this follow-up. Here’s how the film was received and performed at the box office.
In Mathu Vadalara 2, Babu Mohan (Sri Simha Koduri) and Yesu Dasu (Comedian Satya) work for the HE (High Emergency) team. More than just colleagues, the two are close friends and partners in mischief. The film’s story centers on how they become entangled in a murder plot and their efforts to prove their innocence.
While both Sri Simha and Satya play key roles, it’s Satya who steals the show with his quirky and entertaining performance. His exaggerated body language adds humor without becoming tiresome, and his character keeps the film engaging. Faria Abdullah plays a supporting role, while Ajay and Vennela Kishore are notable parts of the film.
Mathu Vadalara 2 kicks off with a quirky kidnapping episode that sets the tone for the rest of the film. The HE team’s antics, “Operation Thaskara,” and Satya’s witty one-liners all hit the mark. The background score keeps the pace brisk, making the film feel energetic. A twist in the kidnapping plot adds intrigue, and the first half is fast-paced and entertaining. The second half picks up with Sunil’s character attempting to frame the two friends, maintaining the momentum. Ultimately, Satya’s performance continues to shine throughout both halves, making the film a fun and engaging watch.
From a technical perspective, Mathu Vadalara 2 excels. Kaala Bhairava’s background score is perfectly suited to the film’s quirky vibe, and Suresh Sarangam’s cinematography, paired with Karthika Srinivas’ editing, adds polish to the overall presentation. With solid production values from Mythri Movie Makers and Clap Entertainment, the film feels rich and well-crafted.
