Ravi Teja, the Mass Maharaja of Telugu cinema, turns a year older today. Known for his energetic screen presence and signature massy style, the Vikramarkudu and Idiot actor has consistently entertained audiences for decades.
In recent years, Ravi Teja has only upped the game in terms of a variety of roles. In Mr. Bachchan, he portrayed an Income Tax officer; the Harish Shankar directorial made use of his effortless dancing talent. Eagle saw him in the role of an infamous assassin, a departure from his typical mass hero image. Some slick action portions in the film have earned acclaimed after its OTT release.
Tiger Nageswara Rao, a biographical action drama, had him as an adventurous thief, reminiscent of Robinhood. Since the film was based on a real-life personality, Ravi Teja tried his best to be subtle. In Ravanasura, he played an Advocate with a difference.
Waltair Veerayya, the box office blockbuster led by Chiranjeevi, saw him as an Assistant Commissioner of Police, blending his trademark mass appeal with a touch of emotions. Dhamaka, another blockbuster, presented him in a dual role. The doppelganger trope was enjoyable because of Ravi Teja.
Ramarao on Duty had him in the role of a Mandal Revenue Officer, a civil servant role that is rarely explored in our cinema. Khiladi saw him as a con man, a romantic and gutsy one at that.
Krack had Ravi Teja as CI Potharaju Veera Shankar, one of his most effective parts in his filmography. Raja The Great had him in the role of a blind person.
Ravi Teja awaits the release of Mass Jathara and his 75th movie this year. Both these films are expected to further cement his Mass Maharaja image.
