Akkineni Nagarjuna today remarked that Kuberaa is essentially his character’s story. Addressing the media in Hyderabad, the versatile actor stated that Sekhar Kammula’s conception was meant to be that.
“When I listened to the narration, I felt that the story of Kuberaa revolves around my character. Other characters interact with Deepak (Nag’s name in the movie) from start to end. Screen time is not the only criterion I go by. I liked my character’s arc,” Nagarjuna, known for entertainers like Bangarraju and Naa Saami Ranga in recent years, said.
Nag added that Kammula is the reason why he chose to do the film. “My character is the main one in the movie. Jim Sarbh did a fantastic job. But his character has just one shade. Dhanush’s character has two variations. It’s an innocent character with a stable graph otherwise. My character has got three shades. Comments I have been hearing about my character have been encouraging,” the actor said.
Kammula said that he wrote the story because of the growing income and class-based inequalities in the world. Driven by this material reality, he wanted to write a story about the poorest man and the richest man.
